A smoker can get a starter kit which includes a battery-powered cigarette and replaceable cartridges.  The cartridges  contain nicotine flavoring and propylene glycol. The propylene glycol produces the smokelike mist when it is vaporized by the cartridge. When a smoker inhales through the device, the cartridge is heated by a sensor.  When the smoker exhales there is no smoke, just water vapor.
